trauma
education
who is trauma education for?
anyone who wants to create safer spaces for humans. if you come into contact with people on a daily basis, you know + interact with someone who has trauma.
a trauma-aware lens can help you:
differentiate trauma reactions from everyday behaviors
diffuse or disrupt a trauma trigger
hold space with languaging that is inclusive for all survivors
create a container for growth + healing from trauma
how do i start?
become trauma-aware.
trauma aware indicates you understand that trauma exists + can change how someone reacts to stressors through their past experiences (ie, you recognize a reaction is not “bad behavior” but a trauma trigger).
where do i go next?
become trauma-informed.
trauma informed indicates you modify your behavior, views, + systems to give people paths towards healing. this includes but is not limited to language, policies, + everyday practices.
